SKIMMING You know the way a tiny gust of air sometimes sends a Small vortex of vapor skimming across a pond, a Little funnel of mist spinning over the surface ‘Til it either lofts to join higher-level winds Or evaporates into nothingness? In like manner, a tiny gust of words sometimes sends a Small vortex of thoughts skimming across the mind, A little funnel of ideas spinning over the surface ‘Til they either loft into higher-level thinking Or evaporate into nothingness. It’s that tiny breath of freshness That sets the skimming in Motion that is the most Extraordinary Gift of All.

About the Book
A THIMBLEFUL is a book of short poems full of unusual emotional impact. The author uses humor and imagery to demonstrate her insight and understanding of poetry as well as some of life’s most joyful and poignant moments.
About the Author
Dr. Ardith Hoff grew up on a dairy farm in Southwestern Wisconsin, the youngest of six children. She is the widow of Dr. Darrel Hoff , an author and retired professor of astronomy and science education. She has two grown children and two grandchildren. She has taught in the arts at every level, from kindergarten-graduate school. She has been writing poetry for nearly forty years. Her poems have been published by: The University of Northern Iowa, The Iowa Poetry Association, World of Poetry Press, Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum Inc., and the World Poetry Movement.
