Life according to Jag

This book is about the power of words and the splendor of not just knowing what a word means but what can happen when you take ownership of that word and tell your own story of how it has played a part in your life. The stories are the substance to the words.

Words are funny in that they can trigger different emotions for all of us. The word perseverance bothers me. I’m not sure why but it makes me feel self-righteous. I mention this because I wonder what words you will connect with and which words will leave you feeling unattached. So as you go through this book I would ask you to be aware of how the title words make you feel. It is important to remember that a word can be described by the definition we give to it but it only becomes powerful when we feel it. It is the emotion we attach to the word that makes it real.

So, in addition to talking about the power of words I have written short stories that capture the essence of the word and the influence that it has played in my life. I am a Professional Horseman and my life has been filled with the wonders of working with both a wide array of horses and their owners. My own horse “Jag” for which this book is titled, has played a huge part in who I am today and how I see the world around me. It was during these years with Jag that I discovered so much about who I am and what my life is about. I am deeply grateful for his patience and kindness as grew both as a horseman and as a person.

When I came up with the idea to write this book I did so because I believe words when given emotion are powerful. Words alone are simply words. My idea was to take words that we all know and add stories of myself, loved ones, family, friends and even rivals to give the words I have chosen emotion which in turn creates meaning. My hope was to inspire you to do the same. We all have a book inside us. Everyone has a story. My hope is that through my life lessons you will reflect on yourself and your life and those who have touched your life along the way. I am an average person who has had my share of trials and tribulations. I am human, I do not always have a perfect attitude, in fact I can get pretty down on myself at times. With that said I also choose to believe that my life has purpose and it is my responsibility to grow and share in the journey with others so that our lives have a purpose.

Each day is an opportunity, we can choose to stay where we are or we can choose to move forward and reach and grow to grasp onto our hopes and dreams. My wish for you is to reach and grow and believe!
