She seemed in some sort of a stupor. They could arouse her by calling her name loudly...Meanwhile, Maya's inner experience was not as restful as it appeared from casually observing her...She was traveling,seeing places that seemed real...velvety green slopes and majestic waterfalls...gardens...earthquakes...wars over scarce water...She noticed there were colors she had never seen before... The more she watched, the more she was drawn into the beauty which seemed to penetrate her being. Then she saw her grandfather. He walked with her up a familiar high granite ridge. She felt light and free, yet steady in his presence. They sat for a long time looking over the rooftops. The sky was a crystal clear blue. She could smell the ponderosa pine wafting by on a warm breeze.
"This is your first initiation, Maya," (Jess) said without talking. "You will learn new ways…from new teachers". They sat for hours. The sun set and the stars came out one by one. With a peaked awareness she sensed them as powerful distant suns. She heard music from the plants and trees and air. It was as if she could hear the sounds of the elemental particles moving and vibrating. Then Jess took her back to her house and into her room. She saw herself lying in bed.
"This is the time for healing yourself. Go back now."
Her inner world turned quiet. She rested in stillness until she could feel her breathing. The guide, Alta, was with her, easing her back to consciousness.

About the Book
Maya is born in the year 2000, at the end of the Piscean Age, a time when the triumphs of technology provide comfort and convenience for the privileged, though many people are still impoverished and oppressed. As an Indigo child, Maya personifies the potential of the human race to move toward physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and social evolution. With an enhanced DNA, she’s destined to bring a new energy into the world.
As Maya grows, she learns to harness the power of intuition for healing. She can see into a person’s soul and find the cause of distress. Using her presence and channeling healing energy, she reconnects people to themselves and their purpose. Even so, she often forgets her connection to the source of all energy and her commitment to help humanity evolve. Maya struggles in a profound paradox: her own fate is intertwined inextricably with the fates of everyone else.
She’s not alone. Others with new DNA strands have their own gifts and visions of hope. They know intuitively the vast wealth to be discovered in spiritual connections among people. Although they cannot stop the drama of climate change and natural disasters, they establish new political systems based on respect and inclusiveness. One thing is certain: a new human consciousness is slowly evolving.

Mary “Z” Szczepanski has been a nurse for many years in mental health and addictions treatment. Her holistic nursing private practice offers sessions and classes in imagery and several forms of energy healing, including healing touch and EFT. Szczepanski lives in Juneau, Alaska. This is her second book.
