So there you have a brief (and as non-technical as I can make it) summary of the “fundamentals” of our current physics. These fundamentals form the basis of the present scientific explanation of physical reality. As you may have noticed, the fundamentals themselves are just “there” because they allow the current scientific theories to explain the results obtained from scientific experiments. However, they are themselves essentially metaphysical, because we can go no further in understanding the “why” of them with our present science.
However, in the previous chapters of this book, I have outlined a body of observations that do not fit within the present Physical Reality Framework. These include the veridical aspects reported during near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, the reports of ghostly phenomena, clairvoyance, telekinesis, the placebo effect, and global focus effects on random number generation. None of these things fit into the Physical Reality Framework of our current science, and so there are only two options for scientists. The first is to dismiss all of these observations as being unreal for one reason or another. But the second option is to entertain the possibility that the Physical Reality Framework is deficient, and thus requires either significant modifications or the introduction of a new, more expansive, framework
If we look at the science of cosmology, we see that the present thinking is that our entire physical universe came into existence 13.7 billion years ago in the emergence of all energy and matter instantaneously from a single point that originated essentially from “nothing”. This Big Bang produced all the “stuff” and also all the fundamentals and laws of physics that we currently know. But as to what caused the Big Bang and where all the stuff and fundamentals came from, we are at a complete loss to explain it in terms of any scientific theory that can be experimentally tested and verified.
In a similar vein, the current theory of quantum mechanics says that reality is produced by the act of observation. Quantum mechanics posits that there is no underlying reality until there is an observed reality. Not only is this position intuitively disturbing, it also obviously begs the question: Who is the observer?
For materialists, it is an inconvenient truth that for the human understanding of reality to progress, there must be a new Framework developed that is able to encompass the many and varied aspects of reality that have been observed in actual fact. In this regard, it seems clear that the fundamental which is missing from the current Physical Reality Framework is - Consciousness.
The new paradigm that I espouse based upon what I know and what I intuit is the Universal Consciousness Framework. This cannot really be considered a “new” paradigm, since major elements of it are contained in the ancient teachings of India. However, it is a significant departure from the thinking of those in so-called developed societies. What I will do now is to attempt to flesh out and expound upon some of the aspects of this new Framework.
