In May of 2008, I decided I would travel to Chicago at some time when there wasn’t snow on the ground, and a cold wind blowing in from the lake. So I contacted our PI, Peter and proposed we make the journey. Donnas’ opinion of Chicago has never changed, she still dislikes the city, and I understand that; she just wants to bring Jesse home. That’s probably not going to happen anytime soon, but I feel the determination to go as much as she feels the need to stay. Peter is not fond of flying, so we decided to take the Amtrak train from Kansas City to Chicago. It did have the advantage of arriving at O’Hare airport right next to our hotel. I can only say 8 hours on Amtrak was not my idea of heaven, but it got us there. At least they didn’t strip search us getting on and off the train. Also on this trip, I became aware of the rail system in Chicago. We were able to get a pass for 3 days of riding anywhere we could want to go in Chicago. In all my previous trips we travelled mostly by foot, occasionally by taxi; sometimes through the courtesy of the Chicago Police.

About the Author
Donald Ross was born June 27th, 1948 in Mansfield Missouri and raised in Wichita, KS. He attended Peabody High School in Peabody Kansas; He is a Vietnam era veteran, worked as dishwasher, police officer, security guard, construction worker, accounting clerk, and finally became a Data Processing Associate for AT&T. In 1981 he met his wife to be Donna and they were married in 1982. In 1984, son Andy Ross was born; in 1987, son Jesse Ross was born. Jesse disappeared in Chicago Illinois in 2006, while attending a school sponsored Model UN conference. The Ross’ are retired.
