Chosen

What we were hearing was madness.  We could only imagine the images as we hid inside and waited. People screaming frantic, the next door neighbors' pit-bulls barking like half-mad toy poodles.  Glass and cars being blasted away.  Something was coming our way fast.  One part of me wanted to go to the window for a look.
I freeze up. I should do anything else.  I tried to pick myself up only to have Sean pull me back down onto the ground.
"What are you crazy!?  Stay down!"  He demands frantically.  Suddenly there's an eerie silence as a maroon mist creeps into the room.  A flash of white light suddenly spills in from outside. 
Something bursts through the window and crashes into our kitchen.  An alien invader- slips into our stove and dents it.  Sean and I cover our faces in defense.  Sean gets up and throws his ax in one severe but swift motion.  The superhuman creature deftly shifts over and catches the ax.  It looks at me, I can't decide whether it has one eye or no eye.  It advances towards me   This is bad, it's on stilts hunched over hindered by the low height of our ceiling.  It's mid section looks human but the head is really round and the neck really slight. 

I knew what it wanted. 

I start running down the hall way toward the bathroom.  No where to go really but at least away from Sean.  Everything glows white for a moment.  I hear it drop the ax on the floor. 
It charges me full-power and slams into my spine.  Then I feel ... nothing.
