Then, they came in to feed on her. Three tall men with piercing bloodshot eyes and even sharper fangs glided through the intricately hand-carved double door of the library opposite to the French windows. At first Emmalie thought it was a joke carried over from prior evening’s vampire tour and the men were make believe blood-suckers until one of them grabbed her and bit into her neck. The sharp sting was real beyond belief. She screamed. She didn’t know how she found her voice but she screamed so hard that one of the vampires put his hand over her mouth to stifle the sound.
A second vampire started to nibble on her arms, slowly ripping her skin. The pain was acute as blood dripped from her pores. Emmalie prayed that she might die at that very instant. No human being could or should live through such torture, least of all her. The third vampire stood watching the two feeding for a couple of minutes before joining the feast on Emmalie. He scratched her beautifully shaped legs with his razor sharp nails in such way that the blood oozed out slowly, drop by drop. He licked the drops slowly, meticulously, sucking the life force out of her body. Her body writhing in agony, Emmalie drifted into unconsciousness. The last thing she heard was the other woman, the woman paler than the moon, screaming. It was her turn.
