Engblom's eyes rivited on a modest wave as the periscope ducked beneath a white capped breaker. "Devils!" he spit. "Russian devils!" It was the Stockholm archipelago, the world's largest archipelago, 20,000 tightly knit islands, isles, and islets, spreading north to Norrtalje and south to Nykoping--pine, fir, birch, maple, gulls, and terns--drifting out into the Baltic Sea off the coast of Stockholm, Sweden.
Engblom, or Attack Craft Commander Engblom, was a 20 year veteran of the Royal Swedish Navy, had painstaking training and experience in submarine tactics, detection, and identification.

The rounded, 330 ft., steel hulled mother sub moved slowly, silently without signature at 150 meters depth near Aland to the Northeast of Stockholm at the bottom of the Bay of Bothnia in international waters, pressing due South. Dual, rubber coated steel panels moved swiftly to the sides in a boiling rush at the centre of the craft revealing a smoothly engineered miniature pressure chamber with it's precious cargo in all it's glistening glory--the most advanced underwater vehicle in the world--the titanium bastard child--MINISUB 83.

We first meet the honorable Smith in “Minisub 83,” as the captain leaves his American home to serve in the Royal Swedish Navy. There’s no time to acclimate, however; he must use specially designed weapons against an evil foe. In “Minisub 99,” Smith must find a way to destroy wicked Dr. Dimitriov’s underwater headquarters.
If Dimitriov succeeds, he could blow the planet to smithereens! But of course Captain Smith has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Finally, in the rousing, rampant “Minisub 2010,” the notorious Wizardess has plans for global domination by mining gold from the Martian surface. Can she be stopped? It’s all up to Peterson Smith.
About the Author
Parker F. Campbell served in the US Navy Reserve in the mid-1960s. He completed his master’s degree in mass communications at the University of Stockholm, Sweden, where he first took interest in Swedish spy subs and literary spy spoofs. He currently lives in Ontario, Canada.
