There is a place in God, in the cleft of the rock, where you can see His glory and feel His presence. A place where you can touch His heart and hear His voice; even that still small voice that whispers in your spirit, yet you can hear it so clearly. There is a place where nothing else matters but being in His presence, and in His will; a place where all you want to do is please Him, where you totally surrender all to Him, where you say yes to His will and yes to His way, where you totally trust, revere, and obey Him; a place where there is absolute love, peace, and joy with Him because you have gone into that place next to Him where Moses saw His glory and where Adam and Eve walked and talked with Him in the garden in the cool of the evening, where they had sweet intimate fellowship with God.
When you are in that secret, intimate, place with God, you will know what the Song of Solomon is about when Solomon says “[So I went with Him, and when we were climbing the rocky steps up the hillside, my beloved shepherd said to me] O my dove [while you are here] in the seclusion of the clefts in the solid rock, in the sheltered and secret place of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely ” (Song of Solomon 2:14 amp.).
When you take Jesus by the hand, He will walk with you as you climb the rocky steps up the mountainside. If you stumble along the way, He will lift you up and strengthen you for the journey. Whenever you have a desire to go alone with Jesus to that secluded secret place in the clefts of the rock, He will take you there. Nothing will be able to hinder you as you climb higher in Him if you truly make up in your mind, and are persuaded in your heart, that nothing shall be able to separate you from the love of Jesus Christ our Lord; not distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword, or death, or life, or angels, or principalities, or powers, or things present, or things to come, or height, or depth, or any other creature, then you will be able to stand upon the rock and see His glory (see Romans 8:35, 37-39).
There is no more beautiful, peaceful, serene, or tranquil place to be than in the palm of God’s hand, in the center of His will, in the cleft of the rock, under the shadow of the Almighty. When I think of this, I hear the words of the great song “A Place in the Sun” written by Ronald Miller and Bryan Wells and performed by Steve Wonder, ringing in my spirit, but the meaning is changed to a place in the Son—Jesus. The words express my sentiments exactly and are declared in my spirit, “There’s a place in the Son where there’s hope for everyone, where my poor restless heart’s gotta run, moving on, moving on. There’s a place in the Son and before my life is done, gotta find me a place in the Son.” There is a place in the Son, Jesus Christ, where our tired restless hearts can run into His presence. In His presence there is peace and fullness of joy. In His presence there is hope and rest. If you seek Him early you shall find that place in the Son.
