This book was born out of John’s profound and prolific spiritual experiences while exiled at Patmos. First, it reveals to us what John heard. We are drawn to attention by a trumpet like voice; John is summonsed to "come up here". Afterwards, we learn that this is symbolic of the rapture of the church. John then receives a commission to write what he has seen and heard and send it to the seven (7) churches of Asia Minor. Secondly, we are allowed to be privy of "what John saw". He sees a vision of the Glorified Christ; There was given Him (Jesus) dominion and glory; John sees Jesus in divine splendor; He is revealed as a Judge-King; His eyes see and observe all things; His voice as the sound of many waters; the brightness of His glory express the image of His person. He wields the Sword of His mouth; He holds the stars; angels, Messengers or pastors in His right hand; Thirdly, we become aware of what John does having experienced these wonderful events and activities. Jesus is nothing like what John had experienced in his earthly encounters with "the Master". In the Gospel, John lays his head on Jesus' breast. Now, in awe and respect, John fell at the Lord’s feet Being in the presence of God-In Christ, should bring us to a state of awe and respect; not familiarity. Apostle Paul declares that "we know Him no longer after the flesh"; The Prophet Daniel relates "hearing His voice put me in a deep sleep"; Isaiah shows Him as being "high and lifted up". There is a dangerous absence of awe and respect in our worship experiences today. Our attire, actions and activities do not reflect the glory He deserves. We have, unfortunately, brought Christ and “His” worship down to the level of the preacher, the choir and other auxiliaries. Jesus presents Himself in awesome glory! We should seek to maintain that awesomeness for Him in our worship. It’s all about Him!

Bishop Steven G. Thompson has written and published three previous books: Sin Was the Cause of It All, Lucky Thirteen; The Grace of Giving: A Guide to Godly Stewardship; and I Do, if You Do. He has been a pastor-teacher for more than thirty-five years and will be consecrated “Bishop” in August, 2011. Thompson and his wife, Merlean, have children and grandchildren and live in Missouri.
