Getting Past The Past

I intrinsically believe there is a reward for good parenting and upon the onset of The GAME PLAN; the focus is the survival of this family. I did not maintain a scorecard of mistakes or failures as it is not about right or wrong either. What I did know for sure was the past and even though the future was unknown, I had to believe it had to be better for all of us.

I believe that everything that happens is a lesson learned......

Inside I had shut down and in an attempt to re-create a person, I confronted my shame. In a belief that God forgives, I need to find a place of faith in order to believe in myself, again. Some time much later, I discovered how to forgive myself for all that I did not know then ask the hard questions; was I building our lives on a unstable foundation? Moreover, I needed to redefine failure and liberate myself from this mental bondage, also.

The next several years are what I call the mega-thinking era. In retrospect, it was also the most visable learning period as I loose my identity as Mrs. Carter and become Mama Carter in the community. During these intense years, I watch each child develop their own personality and I adjust to seven different individuals. In a crazy kind of way, these are the years that I would remember the most, mainly because the family bond is stronger and I witness phenomenal alliances, strength, character building and respect for each other on a daily basis. Thank You, God! I think my children finally see The Game Plan.
