Past Tense (Action Verbs) There are two forms of past tense verbs, regular and irregular. Past tense regular verbs end with ed, and past tense irregular verbs do not end with ed. Examples: work - worked tie - tied study - studied (regular) eat - ate find - found fly - flew (irregular) Directions: Supply the past tense form of the verbs in parentheses. 1. About the Author
As a teacher of English as a Second Language for twenty years, William Dixon has taught adults at all levels. He researched how adults learn a new language and found that grammar-based instruction was a key component in the process of language acquisition. By learning grammar, students are learning the rules of a language.
This book began as a few handouts for William’s English class. A few handouts eventually developed into a book. William’s students enjoyed the handouts because the lessons were informative and designed to instruct, not to confuse. Because many students are unable to attend class, the book is designed as a self-study guide that students can study at home.
William has a degree in History from the University of Houston. He lives in Pasadena, Texas with his wife, Elvira, and their children, Linda and Gage. This book is dedicated to his students because they have made him a better teacher and a better person.
