My Child Is Love Love can not explain Why I don't sleep Through the night Checking for her breathing And to make sure she's laying right Love does not explain Why I re-check the locked doors Not once, or twice, but three times or more Love will not explain Why I hug her until she's thin Or why I say, "I love you, I love you" Over and over again Love won't let me give up It whispers, it mumbles It murmurs, it struggles To show me the way At the end of my fray It finally says, "Live, breathe, pray Be thankful for today."

About the Author
I wrote, "You Are Not Alone" because I endured the conception and birth of my child alone. I knew that many women have experienced the same. I wanted to reach out to absent fathers, (including my child's father), single mothers, as well as the children affected. I live in Granite, City Illinois. I teach Middle School Communication Arts at a charter school in St. Louis, MO. I love to read, write poetry, journal, and enjoy things of nature. My daughter continues to be a driving force for me. She is smart, beautiful, and amazing.
