About the Author

Jerry Parks earned B.S., M.A., & Ed.S degrees in education from Eastern Kentucky University, and completed additional graduate work at the University of Kentucky. He is a National Board Certified Teacher, a member of the USA-TODAY All -American Teacher Team, and a member of the National Teachers Hall of Fame. He is a regular speaker at National Middle School Association and NBPTS state conferences, and is currently deparment chairperson and instructor of social studies at Georgetown Middle School in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Dr. Parks is also author of ten other books, including: So, You Want to Become a National Board Certified Teacher: Workbook & Evidence Manual, a handbook for new NBPTS candidates; Help! My Child is Starting Middle School!, a handbook for parents of new middle schoolers; and A Gilgamesh Play for Teen Readers, a classroom play based upon everyday life in ancient Sumer.
