About the Author

SYLVAN MARLER spent 8 months and 28 days in Destin, Florida, before birth! On October 14th, 1923, Sibyl Marler, his Mother, with birth pains growing closer and closer, was placed in a motorized net boat by his father, William L. “Bill” Marler and RUSHED to the nearest Hospital, 7 hours away, to Pensacola, Florida, 49 miles to the west (a 7 hour boat ride)!. It wasn’t an easy trip 7 miles over Choctawhatchee Bay, 35 miles up Santa Rosa Sound and 7 miles over Pensacola Bay! But 3 days later, on October 17, 1923, in the Pensacola Hospital, little baby Sylvan decided to make his debut into this world of woe! Five days later he moved back to Destin, with his Mother and Dad, to begin his journey through life! Except for his absence from 1942 to 1947, he spent his entire life in the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Area!
