He held her gently and begged her to please listen to him and then he spent the next few hours telling her all about him, his past, his making, and his strategies living as a vampire. It was too much for Rebecca. She yelled. She cried. She was angry, hurt, and confused. The mental and emotional stress caused her to faint. Moments later Adriano managed to wake her up and tried desperately to keep her calm and relaxed. He held her in his arms and it finally sank into Rebecca that she was not dreaming. He was not telling her a weird disturbing lie. He was telling her the most unbelievable troubling truth that no human could possibly understand, accept, or imagine. But Rebecca had to quickly dig deep into her heart, her inner thoughts, her beliefs, and her whole self to find that part of everyone that exists deep within us, hidden away so peace of mind is not disturbed. It’s the part that believes in the unexplainable, unseen, and unimaginable and she finally accepted what Adriano was explaining to her. All the strategies he used to get around feeding and the sun, he revealed to her. It all seemed to make absolute sense suddenly. Instantly her mind was filled with all the past moments they had shared at cafes, restaurants, and the moments he left after being with her. She remembered the first month when he never invited her to stay at his place. All of it came crashing down into her consciousness and she was speechless. She didn’t know how to act in front of him. Her love for him was so strong she just instinctively stayed in his arms and neither spoke a word to the other the rest of the evening.
