Thomas Gage, an aspiring surgeon, is struggling with the decision to pursue the medical profession or marry and have children to carry on the Gage legacy as desired by his mother. Major Richard Hayes, a high ranking officer in the British army, is desperately searching for a swindler, Theodore Blakeslee, who stole money from him and his associates. Hayes has one year to retrieve the money and clear his name or face going to debtor’s prison. Young and beautiful Margaret Ann Thatcher, the niece of a wealthy merchant, is looking for a young man of fine fortune but is not satisfied with her suitors. By an unforeseen circumstance, she befriends a Huron warrior and falls in love with him which is against the rules of society. Both Thomas and Richard become involved with the seductive and mysterious Nancy Graham, who has devious intentions in store for both men. Thomas, Richard, and Margaret Ann will encounter challenging, shocking, and inevitable events during the close of the French and Indian War in Colonial America in 1763. As one war ends, another between good and evil rages, and only those who can resist being fallible will survive.

In an ironic twist of fate, Gage’s mother has a chance encounter with Margaret Ann Thatcher, the niece of a wealthy merchant whose temptations are about to lead her into a forbidden relationship.
As one war ends, a battle between good and evil rages on as the lives of three vastly different characters become intertwined in a web of treachery, greed, and insurmountable challenges that only the resilient will survive.
