About the Book
I believe because of the Black Cultural Revolution of the 60’s our youth have a renewed attitude toward themselves and others. Their successes in the 21st Century will likely be our greatest monument to our ancestors.

About the Author
Shahid Al-Bilali was born in 1943 in a segregated community call Newburg just south of Louisville, Kentucky. This community shaped my mind and vision. I am the son of Lee Anna Samuels, the brother of Stewart Wayne Owsley. I have been married twist. I am the the father of six children and nine grandchildren. I am a human being first, a muslim, an African American, a sculptor of metal, a Fourth Dimension Artist. The world of the Fourth Dimension is the coming together of the world cultures, it is the bridge, the connection, the development, it is the art of survival.
The focus of my art and writing is to express the influence of my family and history on my life. “A Mirror for My Children” is a history of my life, of my family. I see my responsibility as a son, a husband, and father is to reconize my ancestors. This has become my purpose in life.
