About the Book

Beginning in 1961 until the end of the Vietnam War, tens of thousands of Army Security Agency soldiers fought there. Selected stories by some of these soldiers are told in their own words of their experiences. They tell of combat and personal character and of humor and of the horrors of war. They tell of valor and incompetence by both American and Vietnamese leaders. They tell of compassion by both Americans and Vietnamese. Conflicts between officers and enlisted appear in several stories and outcomes of these conflicts. And they tell of the consequences of war to those who fought there. Consequences of the war are seen through the eyes of time in the lives of wounded warriors. The country called and the ASA did its duty. The ASA was so good in what it did that a severe pucker factor came with intelligence they gave to combat units. Decide for yourself who are the patriots in this book.

About the Author

Wayne Munkel served in the Army Security Agency during the Cuban Missile Crisis and one tour in Vietnam. After the war he earned two degrees and worked nearly three decades in a children’s hospital. He has lectured and written book chapters and peer reviewed articles on child abuse and neglect.
