After loosing my sister Jill, I began to write and try to put feelings down on paper to help not just myself but others. It makes me more sad to live each day as time goes by and really see with a new sight the ugliness that lives in some of us. It breaks me down lower than death itself because evil still lives and has to be dealt with. My prayer is God please help us to see what you would have us to see, please help us to feel what you would have us feel. We are weak vessels created and put on this earth with little understanding of life and how it effects us all when it dumps bitter sweet pieces of harsh cold beatings upon all of us from time to time. I can not count the times that I have to ask for forgiveness and guidance from my creator for my short commings and misunderstandings, but thanking God now is a must for me to heal and give back the best that I have been taught. People teach and say, don't talk so much about "I", but it's about more than I; well this is true but when it is "I" who has crashed and got up and still trying to stand then "I" is what has a voice in which speaks and tell what took me across this path that now is mine and my cross to bear. If nothing said or done by what I have grown to know then has it all been in vien for nothing accomplished near success? Please don't make it your mission to hurt others even if you hurt, it want change your pain it will just add another person on the long list of pain. The glory of God shines upon us and gives us reason to glow for one another, at least try it on for size and feel how it can warm the missed place that you thought were gone forever.

About the Book
This book is written from my heart aft er the murder of my sister in 1999. My life was snuffed out of my very being and there was no light in sight to follow or bring me back home. So much sorrow and saddness was sucking me into a hollow black pit with no bottom. How could this happen to my sister, Jill? Why did this happen? How could I go on from here? Th is was such a cold blooded and sensless murder and things like this had never happened in our family or our town for that matter. Nothing could have compared and prepared my family of such a shocking event. Jill was stabbed in the back by a man she knew with a 13 inch butcher knife and died within a few minutes. Aja, ( Jill’s daugher) was in the kitchen and she heard a thump in the bathroom and ran in to see that her mother, her only parent involved in her little life was bleeding perfusely. Aja ran to the neighbors’ house to get help and call 9-1-1/ it was too late when the rescue squad arrived at the hospital. The entire family was there, with the exception of me, (I lived in Ohio) their faces pressed against the wet, cold glass looking on in disbelief. My daughter was at the hospital and called me, “saying mom! mom! Jill is gone”. I said, “what do you mean Jill is gone”; dreading to hear those fatal words, she is dead. Th is shocked the entire hospital for the attending doctor on duty attended school with Jill and knew her and most of the family. Th is was a sad dark day for us, for Princeton, WV. is a small town where everybody knows everybody. We hadn’t had many murders of this sort and never had we a murder up close and personal in our family. Jill was so well known that it was hard to pick a jury because she had helped men working on the rail road ( we grew up around trains) by giving them snacks and cold drinks of water. She went to school with most everyone on the jury or they had a kid who knew her. Finally, the trial starts and the reality really sinks in watching them pass around my sister.s
About the Author
My name is Priscilla S. Miles; I have never written a book and had one published before; but I have always been interested in writing a book some day. I am a senior at Bluefield State College and I have completed all of my English classes, Literuture classes, and Modern writing classes. I think that I can get this book on the market with lots of help from your company that is the reason I have joined with iUniverse. I'm always excited about writing and have enjoyed reading many different authors all my life. I have intered a few writing contest, (never have been a winner) but never the less I enjoy writing. (2) I am a 52 year old black female with one daughter who is 32 years old. I have one granddaughter 4 years old and I have one grandson just a year old. I have been married twice and am now divorced. I opened up my on consignment shop in 2007 in the town of Princeton, WV. (where I now live). I grew up loving writing (not being a great speller), but I always had the dream of one day becomming a writer telling my own story. I will graduate college in December 2010 with a Criminal Justice Administration 4 year degree. I started attending college right out of high school dropped out and started my own family. I decided to go back and see if I could finish what I started many years ago. It has been hard and I am almost at the finish line. (3) I Live in Princeton, WV. 24740 and I was raised about 12 miles out of Princeton in a small area (country living) named Kellystank, WV. I married and moved away at age 23 and moved back in 1999, after my sister Jill was murdered. That is the reason that I have written this book titled "Standing When Life Falls".
