SURVIVE THE RECESSION

Economic recession according to American heritage dictionary is the “act of withdrawing or an extended moderate decline in general business activities”. Long man American dictionary also define recession as “a period of time when there is less business activities, trade, etc than usual”. Recession period can be regarded as a period of lacks or shortfall in an individual’s life. Recession has been in existence for a long time. Even in the bible. But in the physical; this is a period when Economy of the world goes down. Stocks markets are not encouraging, people are losing their jobs, rate of foreclosures are on high side. Things are falling apart. This makes a lot of cities to be deserted. People are frustrated and depressed for losing their houses, jobs, stocks values and life savings. Economic recession is an agent of depression. Depression does not just affect an individual that are depressed, but also affects his environment. A lot of marriages are broken; people cannot afford what they suppose to have for their daily living. Kidnapping rates are of highest order. Lots of crimes are committed due to frustrations caused by the economic recession and hardship, because an idle hand is the devil’s workshop. Husbands and wives are killing themselves. Some parents are killing their children. Lots of ladies and teenagers are engaging themselves in prostitute acts in order to survive. Many manufacturers are not meeting their goals in terms of sales. During the time of economic recession, majorities of the manufacturing companies are moving from developed countries and cities to underdeveloped countries where they can engage cheap labors, in returns, they bring their finished products to developed countries or cities where they hope to market these products. But unfortunately, there were no market for these products, because most of the people living in these projected marketing regions are either jobless, homeless or at the point of losing their homes, and lost most of their life saving. Fraudulent acts are of highest order. There is lack of thrust in the mind of everybody. Values of currencies are depreciating. Governments find it difficult to provide basic amenities like affordable health care, infrastructures and educations for their citizenry. Gas price rose to highest records in history. Monthly utility bills rises. Both properties and sales taxes were also increased. Most of the benefits and programs due for both able, disable and elderly citizens are cut, while some are cancelled completely due to lack of funds from governments. Medical bills are rising. This made it difficult for many people to complete doses of their prescription drugs and accessible to proper medical care. Rate of people living on unemployment benefits are increasing every day. Employers are cutting more hours daily. Numbers of people living in shelters are increasing. Many Elementary and High schools are either merged together or closed down because of lack of fund. Rate of bankruptcy are higher than ever before. Individuals, small and large companies with big corporations find it difficult to get credits from banks and other financial institutions due to the fact that, they were experiencing the most terrible decline in Fico Credit Scores in history. Some of the financial giants, companies, corporations, airliners and automobile industries are filling bankruptcy. This led to many insurance companies insured them to close down. Majority of the stores in malls and streets are closed down. Shops or spaces for lease or rent signs are common around the cities. Most of the stores available find it so hard to make sales. It is a common practice among the existing stores to organize what consumers call crazy sales in terms of clearance for price reduction to attract their customers in order to make sales at the expense of the profits they projected to make on these sales. Lack of good diets during economic recession help increases the level of various diseases and sickness among the people. For examples, it is common for anybody with malnutrition to developed kwashiorkor, body rash, stomach upset and susceptible to some other sickness. Likewise it is very easy for people who lost their jobs, houses and their entire life savings with huge bills to pay to developed hypertension which in deed is the root cause of stroke or cardiac arrest. No wonder many people now died suddenly from unknown cause.
