“Oh shit he’s back I can hear footsteps coming.” Evan put his book back where he where found it. Justin and David did a final run around to make sure nothing was moved or misplaced. They also went and sat on their bed and just waited till further instruction. Then it began with a loud screech as the iron door was once again re-opened. Victor walked in to see nothing but a large empty room. “I’m back and I need to talk to you guys.” Victor told them that with in a few hours they would be fighting for their lives. It was now getting pretty close to noon and the sin and violence could be smelt in the air.
Victor had brought them all steak and cheese subs. He wanted them to be strong before he inflicted any real pain. “Ok guys I brought you food and water so you can rest up I’ll be back at any time so you better be ready.” Victor left the food in the middle of the room before he left and locked the boys in again. When he was gone they all went for the food at the same time and they were all done in less than 8 minutes. They were laughing a bit and belching and enjoying life for a split second.
Then reality came crashing down and soon the smell of rotting corpse and maggots filled the air. Victor had gone up to the house to change out of his nice Sunday clothes and into to something fit for a psycho. It was 12:19 pm and the boys digested their food in dead silence. Those next few hours seemed like days they waited and waited for his return.
The basement was cold even though the sun was out. There were too many trees for the building to get any real heat. It was soon 3:39 pm and no sign of Victor. Evan was reading that book again it wasn’t just any book it was all black and some weird writing on it. Justin asked, “Evan what are you reading man and how could you read right now?” Evan told him he found under his cot and he just started reading it. He told Justin and David that it talked all about hell and Satan and things like that. He also told them that most of it wasn’t in English. They ran to their room and looked under their cots. Justin got on his knees and peered up under his cot. He found a small chalice with some evil designs on it. He starred in confusion and brought it back out where Evan was still busy reading.

About the Book
In 1976, David is a young man in a small town when he befriends the beautiful Mystery. He’s drawn to her immediately, and they become the best of friends. Soon, though, his feelings of friendship move toward the romantic. He falls in love with Mystery, but to his utter dismay, his own brother soon steals her heart away.
To escape the pain of his first lost love, David leaves town. He runs away from home, seeking to prove his independence and strength and get away from any memory of Mystery. Little does he know the real world is a terrible place, and surviving on his own is no simple game. Before long, he decides to return to his family.
However, on his way back, he meets a strange man named Victor and so begins horrors David never could have imagined. He is taken captive and held prisoner by a scoundrel who wants only to torture and destroy. To stay alive, David must escape, but first, he must find the strength within himself to tackle his own demons.
About the Author
Michael J. Robinson was born in Glens Falls, New York, and spent his early childhood in the foster system, eventually adopted at the age of five. He now lives in Buffalo, New York and works as a bill collector and has a beautiful 18 month old daughter.
