ODDITY:
The Psychological Tragedy

PROLOUGE
It began in the year 2012; in this year the earth was struck by waves of giant asteroids which brought: the melting of glaciers, dramatic climate change, volcanic eruptions, and great cities fell beneath the cold and pitiless waves. The ground opened up and swallowed whatever remained; good men and innocent children were engulfed so dispassionately-- just as the Mayan calendar predicted so long ago. The asteroid also spread an unknown virus throughout the planet. This airborne plague destroyed everything it touched, including the livestock & harvest. One third of the human population was killed in less than a year. But however, the courses of this cosmic calamity were studied under close scientific provisions. This is the oldest and most ancient of truth; the circle of life expands deep into the cosmos. We can come to this accord; all life was created by a great impact. The book of Noah, the great flood, was a result of a great impact. A great impact destroyed the dinosaurs so long ago and made room for us humans to dwell. Our homes were built on top of the bones of those who could not escape their fates. The circle of life will repeat itself, how will we escape our fates this time?
Dr. Eugene Osco proposed that the remaining humans; which were not infected, be placed into a spaceship code named, “The Iron Bison”. The uninfected survivors quickly entered this Noah’s Arch in hopes of escaping the cruel vacuole of the fatal impact. They discourteously abandoned their friends, family and lovers, and did what humans do best… survive. For that reason the dying citizens gave it the street name, “Loveless”.
The loveless fled.
…And the Earth was no more.
After six years of fruitless search they find another planet they can call home. They named this planet Nirvana with hopes that it would be a world free from pain and suffering and hatred; and all those devastating emotions that had plagued their former world. This planet was shaded with the color blue and carried two beautiful moons within its orbit. But little did the humans know that within this wonderfully painted world carried an evil secret.
“This planet is the cold aftermath of a great war”, the humans pleaded. “We ran away from home! I thought we escaped the darkness. This land… it cries to me. The married bones of kings and queens—the weeping souls of children and wise sages all say the same thing in such a bone chilling whisper. We should never have come here”.
Some time went by as the humans worked like ants to create a colony they proudly named Mute City; in regards to the dead silence they had stumbled upon. Soon after the city’s creation came a man named Felix Crown. He had white hair, haunting yellow eyes, and was of average length; but what was most distinguishing about this man was the two unusual gloves he wore on his left and right arms. The gloves had holes from the knuckles to the elbow. Felix demanded that all humans worship him like a god. The humans quickly refused and as punishment for their defiance, he destroyed much of the city they had worked so hard to build.
“Unbelievable! He did that with his own two hands? How can one man have so much power? Maybe he really is a god.” Dr. Eugene Osco was the only man who rejected the thought of Felix Crown being a god. He knew that if Felix was as strong as he seemed then it must have been due to those unusual gloves he wore. Osco was obsessed with the gloves, obsessed with Felix Crown’s power. He wanted to know everything there was to know about those gloves. The best scientists are the most curious and the ones that take the most risks.
After much study, he came to the conclusion that only people that were native to the planet could use the glove’s power, the holes in the gloves are where the stones are kept. The stones allow the user to control any element. For example the fire stone gives the user the ability to control and create fire. While a wind stone would allow the user to control and create wind. But once a native puts on the glove it could not be removed.
Felix appeared in Mute City once again but this time he stole the Iron bison. It was clear that Felix was a threat to humanity. Dr. Osco then dedicated the rest of his life to creating a group of super soldiers that would utilize the same substance which could bring forth man kind’s destruction. It was a giant risk. He called these soldiers the oddity. There were twelve members in this group. Each were genetically altered humans. Emotionless dolls designed to carry out tasks without a conscious. All twelve members of the oddity wore gloves much like Felix Crown.
The citizens hated the Oddity. They saw them as a weapon with a mind. They felt man could not be trusted with that much power and power would only lead to corruption. It was at that moment that they devised an evil plan. They would allow the soldiers to do battle with Felix and when they returned weak from battle, they would kill the soldiers. But something strange happened, not only was the leader of the Oddity (leader-one) killed but the remaining eleven members requested that they all resign from the military and start a real life. Dr. Osco granted them this final wish, seeing that they were not emotionless as he had hoped.
Chapter One
The Bitter End
“Somebody help me! Somebody please help me! For god’s sake somebody… anybody… help me. Don’t let me die here! Don’t let me die alone. Please help me; Mother, grandpa, Zeke, Nyru, Johnny, Vince, Kyle, Shadow, Elliot, Jin, Donté, Father … anybody?! Help me. Please help me. Don’t say no to me—you shouldn’t say no to me.”
The candle of my life burns dimly. I still couldn’t believe this was happening. If there is a guardian angel watching… then, where is he? Come save me.
Once again I am alone in the darkness. Trapped in a location that is unfamiliar to me. Shouting for help and ignored by those that can hear me. But I suppose I deserved this punishment. It is human nature to defy the will of god and create a monster, just as it is a monster’s instinct to destroy its creator. I, Chase Vega, have done terrible things—unforgivable things to good people. I’ve killed dozens of people because I was blinded by a zealous desire. Who can ever love this monster that I’ve become?
I just wanted to see the parents that abandoned me once more, even if it meant walking through the myths of hell and leaving a path of corpses behind. Without my mother I was all alone. I hated the feeling of loneliness. That feeling was once a mystery to me, that is, before that day. Now as I look around, there is no one near or far, I am alone. I will die alone too.
I rattled the chains that restrained me in frustration. The rattles of the metal chain echoed and expanded to the outside perimeters of the jail cell. The noise was received in the ears of two eager guards, who then came to the realization that it was indeed time to rid themselves of the child that had caused everyone so much pain.
“What’s that noise”, I questioned. Afterwards I realized that it was the steps of the guards coming closer and closer.
“Is it time already?”
The lights in the jail cell flickered and revealed my best friend. “Kyle”, I said in disbelief. “Is that you under all that red paint?”
His body was chained to the wall much like my own. The chains were strapped so tight that it allowed little room to breathe. Kyle’s body was drenched in blood. His rags were too beaten and torn up to be called clothing. He lifted his head up slowly until his eyes met my own. His eyes were filled with so much hate.
“Hate for me”, I wondered.
I wanted to apologize for what I’ve done; and all that’s happened… but I couldn’t find the courage to speak. I could see that he was in a great deal of pain because his head shivered violently.
Kyle’s head collapsed and he now began to look at the drips of blood which flowed beneath his feet. H
