I tucked the neatly folded ultrasound pictures into my purse wondering whether I would ever share them with anyone. Later that night, I stayed up after everyone had gone to sleep, took out the ultrasound pictures, grabbed a box of Kleenex (which I knew I would probably need) as I sat on the couch. I stared intently at the images and studied all the intricate parts of Mariah, her hands, tiny fingers, her toes, her big belly, her ears, her eyes, her nose and her perfect little lips. After studying them, tears welled up in my eyes and I thought to myself, “She IS beautiful.” She was perfect in every way and that is the first time I knew that Mariah was perfectly and wonderfully made. God made no mistake in Mariah’s make-up; she was the most precious, beautiful baby and I wanted the world to know it.

Wonderfully Made is an encouraging and uplifting book that reaches out to all who have been touched by infant death. When Jaclyn Olson was told that the baby she was carrying was not viable for life and would not make it to term, she and her husband were faced with the decision to either continue or end the pregnancy. Jaclyn and her husband’s decision to continue the pregnancy lead them on an unforgettable journey of faith that not only changed their lives, but also the lives of everyone who came in contact with them, from family and friends to healthcare workers and complete strangers.
Wonderfully Made is an intimate story of God’s beautiful design and how he used an unborn baby to draw others closer to him.
About the Author
Jaclyn Olson is a mother of two children, has suffered a miscarriage and a stillbirth. Through her pregnancies, Jaclyn experienced feelings of extreme joy to feelings of extreme sadness and despair. Jaclyn wants to share her journey, hoping that it will guide you, illuminate you with God’s grace, and comfort you in the realization that you are not alone.
