I am running from a pack of wolves, or at least they seem like a pack of wolves to me. I am merely a twenty year old girl who has led a reclusive life. And yet, these men dressed in the dark blue uniforms of the Russian secret police were hell bent on tracking me down. Constantly, I turn around to see if they have caught up to me. Are they going to take on the persona of a thunderstorm dark blue colored uniforms and slowly roll up behind me- the sounds of their footsteps like the thunder rumbling in the distance- or were they going to take on their wolf like persona and attack me with their sharp fangs digging deep into my flesh until the warm blood that runs through my veins drains out of me? I continue to run through the sea of cement and cobblestone of the streets. Every time I would hear something behind me, my stride grew longer and pace would quicken. People on the streets stopped what they were doing to watch me, probably thinking I was a crazy person or maybe even a thief who stole this journal I held tightly in my arms. Oh, this journal. Yes, this journal is the bane of my existence and the reason I am running for my life. Just as I turned the corner, my foot caught an uneven part of the street. CRUNCH! The horrible crunching sound came from my big toe as the journal was jarred from my arms and flew through the air until it landed a couple of feet in front of where I had fallen to the ground. Excruciating pain shot through my leg, from my big toe. I probably broke it. The pain from the scraped and bruised knee didn’t help either. The sharp pains permeate throughout my whole body. My feet throbbing from all the running, my hands burning at the spots I landed with my whole weight, and my head pulsating from the overwhelming sensations. I try hard to catch my breath, but my lungs feel like they are on fire from the intense running I had been doing. Slowly I lift my head to see where the journal had landed. It landed with the pages face down and opened so the front and back covers were looking up at me. I studied the beautiful letters on the cover “The Truthful Memoirs by Marshal Georgi Zhukov”. My eyes continually worked their way back and forth over the words “Marshal Georgi Zhukov”. Then my mind wandered back to the events of that morning, before my world became chaotic and in complete turmoil…

In an effort to pass the truth on to posterity, he assigns his beloved daughter, Tatyanna, the dangerous mission of revealing the contents of his journal to the world. While battling censorship and attempts on her life, Tatyanna holds true to her promise and eventually, everyone learns that it was Zhukov who masterminded the ingenious strategies that resulted in the defeat of Hitler. While facing the threat of being discovered by Stalin and imprisoned or murdered by a firing squad, Zhukov is the first to liberate a concentration camp while on his way to Berlin to kill Hitler and drag his body through the streets of Moscow. In this compelling novel based on true events, only time will tell if Zhukov's daughter will succeed in her mission or whether the truthful facts about World War II will be lost to the world along with a secret that will forever change the view of this war.
