Let me start off by saying that I do have gray hair that is concealed every time I go to the hairdresser. I have had to lock myself in my room for a few minutes to take a moment to breathe IN and OUT. I still make mistakes that I regret. I think thoughts that I shouldn’t think. I do make my own children and my preschool students clean up after themselves, regardless of their ages. I get angry when things aren’t going my way, and at times I show it. I discipline when I see it needs to be done. I apologize to my kids when I was a little too harsh on them, and admit that, yeah, maybe, just maybe, I was wrong. You might say that I have an A-type personality. My husband would tell you that it’s an A-plus, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Maybe an A-minus. I know that I am human and I will be making mistakes for the rest of my life, like the rest of you. Now, on the other hand, I give hugs and kisses to my children and preschoolers every day. I tell them that I love them. I joke around with them and let them think I am a little crazy. I trick them and tease them so they know I am a kid at heart. I praise them and let them make their own mistakes. I give them the tools to be imaginative and creative. Most of all, I let each of them be their own person and let them know they can be whatever they want, and that the world is theirs to explore. Some of you are probably thinking, Who is this lady? She isn’t a doctor or a therapist. Well, this is very true, but experience beats any amount of schooling, and I have plenty of it. I would think that after twenty years of caring for over four hundred children, that that would count for something. I have been performing child care and teaching preschool for the past two decades. I have decided to share my points of view and experiences to help you conquer some of the hardest and most trying times that you will have with your wonderful children. So sit back and enjoy some of my most trying and most memorable moments as a caregiver. I hope you laugh a bit in the process, and maybe even remember some of the ideas I throw your way.

She knows you will get some great advice and laugh a little at the same time. Marci has been teaching and taking care of children over the past 20 years. She owns her own preschool/daycare in Northern California where she lives with her husband Phil and their two daughters, Morgan and Emily. She was recently awarded the 2009 Early Childhood Educator of the Year for Family Child Care Providers in Lake County California.
