About the Book

Born underneath a shed to a stray cat, Kaito is a kitten with an overactive imagination and a love for life. He enjoys snuggling with his brothers and sisters every evening at their mother’s side, and he soon learns the basics of being a cat. His mother teaches him how to forage for food, hunt mice, and stay clear of trouble. But this cute tabby learns the harsh reality of life as an unwanted stray when the cruel owner of the shed takes Kaito and his sister away from his beloved mother, then tosses them into a dumpster. Kaito realizes why his mother so feared human beings, and yet he wonders if they are all as bad as this one man. Two adults soon rescue the brother and sister and bring them to an animal shelter. Here Kaito and his sister are adopted by two different, yet loving families, and Kaito starts a new life with his owners: a teenager named Ben, his young sister Kayleigh, and their parents. About the Author

Michelle Richardson graduated from William Paterson University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an elementary education teaching certificate. For the past thirteen years, she has worked with special needs children. Richardson lives with her husband and two children in New Jersey.
