About the Book

Joseph Novotny is proud of his Czech parentage. Following World War II, the Cold War continues as the communists and non-communists face off. Joseph enters the army right after college graduation. His regiment patrols the Czech border, and he reacts to the changing political environment. He discovers himself as he sees the devastation of war and what people will do to be free. About the Author

Irv Hamilton, Jr., grew up in Chicago. He graduated from Northwestern University and joined the army in July 1957. After retiring from the military, he spent his career working in public relations and advertising. He lives in the San Francisco Bay area.
