When the first round of design process is completed, it is highly probable that the additional insight gained through the first iteration may enable the designer to come up with a better set of FRs, which may in turn enable the design and manufacture of more advanced products. The availability of advanced products may then change marketing strategy; that is, each time the design loop is crisscrossed, new information is generated which propels all related fields to the next plateau. In the process of travelling up the design-manufacturing – marketing helix, the mapping between two adjacent domains begin with high level requirements. Top level design requirements are identified and conceptual design solutions are generated first. After the high level design decisions are verified, the problem is subdivided into more detailed sub-tasks and the process is repeated. According to the description, the design solution with the minimum information content can successfully satisfy design requirements with the greatest probability. To let customers be willing to buy products with higher or the highest price, the product must have new and high performance customers need, and have good qualities, timely delivery and good service after sales. If the product is not new or high performance its price cannot be raised because of its similarity in the market. Concurrent engineering is another proven approach that can help firms to achieve shorter time to market, reduced development costs and high quality products. It requires people with different disciplines to do mapping and decomposition with the design axioms simultaneously. As for spending on product or process design, it can be reduced by using CAD and internet based design because drawing is the most time consuming and spending on it is the main part. Similarly newly designed PCBs (printed circuit boards) have gained a critical advantage because of the demands it had created like: the demand for miniaturization and weight reduction, the demand for higher data transmission rates, designing to give higher functionality and reliability, and development in component and packages and assembly technology.
