Granny Godeaux and her young best friend, Spike, thoroughly enjoy the drama and excitement as Nancy, a Native American who is always full of gossip from up and down the river, talks about Ol’ Scratch—the booger in the bottom—and how her ancestors lived side-by-side with the creature for hundreds of years. As Nancy relays sighting after sighting, Granny and Spike learn that Bigfoot has not disappeared. Alive and well, Bigfoot, who often lets out panther-like screams across the bay in East Texas in an effort to ward off human trespassers, appears to be cohabitating in surprising proximity to man while fighting for survival.

Cracker Irvin is a world traveler, a Viet Nam veteran, an outdoorsman, and nature lover who feels privileged to share his life experiences with others. A simple Christian man and devoted husband, he has three children and two grandchildren and lives in Buckhorn, Texas.
