About the Author
The author grew up in a small town in the Southeastern United States during the 1950's. His childhood was a time of joy and camaraderie. However as the 50's came to a close, he like many other young people of the time were forced to see reality in a different light. Impending intergration of public schools initiated a profound change in cocepts and attitudes. The tumoil of the time provided the author with a special insight to the prejudices and bigotry of segregated Alabama. But the joy of being young, and free, permeates this tale from its innocent beginnings to the stunning finish. His own personal experiences are woven into the lives of the characters contained in this bittersweet tale of racism, friendship, and basketball. John Cameron currently lives with his wife in Dothan, Alabama. When not writing or reminicing about his youth, he beats a little white ball around an 18 hole track and then returns home to curse about it.
