Removed from her alcoholic parents at age nine, Karen was placed in an orphanage and a succession of foster homes, where she was virtually abandoned by child protection services. About the Author

Karen has worked as a Social Worker for 17 years. Currently she works with at-risk families for a county agency in Central Minesota. The purpose in telling her story is to shatter the myths associated with famiilies mired in poverty and abuse. Through her book and public speaking, she offers hope to victims and insight to professionals.

She is the proud parent of three children and grandchildren.
