About the Book

This book is one woman’s observations and views of what she perceives to be the downfall in American society. Citing her views from child rearing, healthcare, police brutality and the overall lack of common sense amongst our society, she acknowledges that not every reader will agree with her analysis.

Although this book is full of her personal views, she also realizes that not every chapter may pertain to the reader. She does, however, guarantee that as you’re reading you will find at least one subject that hits home. She hopes the reader will find it informative as well as entertaining.

About the Author

Ruby Bounds Boswell is the mother of three and the grandmother of six. She is a first-time writer who lives in Peoria Illinois. She was born in Missouri but spent most of her life in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she met and married her husband of thirty years, William (Bill) Boswell. Ruby has always felt the need to do more for her community, so as a young woman in the early 1970’s she and her sister Gwen formed a girls club for teens. The girls were taught how to cook and clean, the art of getting along with one another but most important was having self respect. The young ladies were taken on hiking and camping trips and had a few slumber parties. After one year of running it with money out of their own pockets, it folded, but it left lasting memories in the lives of the young girls and their leaders. In the 1980’s Ruby owned her own business, a styling salon called Styles and More. During this time she won many cosmetology awards. Her business closed after eight years, when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Upon her return to the Midwest in 1998, with the help of friends and family, she organized and produced several social functions. Old School Reunion 2001 and 2003 plus A Night to Dine where anyone over age 50 received free admission. These events were done to acknowledge and celebrate the people in the community who had been overlooked in the past. Ruby believes in giving kindness where kindness is given, and to give kindness even if it’s not returned.
