The night was moonlit and bright and from high upon his perch above the forest canopy, Danny sat looking out on the treetops, scanning the jungle for enemy activity. He couldn’t see them, but he suddenly felt a presence not more than sixty meters below him. As he slithered down the side of the outcropping he had been sitting on, he took on the characteristics more akin to that of a spider than a man. Silently he approached the presence that he now felt all around him. He came to the outskirts of a clearing where seven Viet Cong sat crouched in a circle. He was so close to them that he could actually smell the rice, which was boiling in the pot atop the small fire, in the center of the circled men. He could hear everything they were saying and understood their every word. He knew they were talking about him, and how when they found him, what they planned on doing with him. Suddenly, and all at once, the Viet Cong heard a blood-curdling scream come from somewhere in the darkness that surrounded them. They trembled in fear, as they stood and raised their weapons……..The screams were getting closer......all around them now......A glimpse of light, or perhaps a feeling of déjà vu swept over them, and then there was a warm and lethal breeze, that sickeningly floated between them, leaving them, every last one, dead. Once it had passed, left ears and right pinkie fingers were missing from bodies that hung from the trees. And as it was at each massacre site, whoever discovered them would not be able to find any trace of a struggle or an outside presence, other than that of the slain bodies themselves.

About the Book
Danny Reed was a genius who was raised by his Aunt after the death of his parents when he was a baby. He was also an idealist who enlisted into the United States Navy, thinking he would be able to make a difference in the world. Once in, he became a hospital corpsman and volunteered for duty with a United States Marine Corps unit that was being deployed overseas to Vietnam. However, the moment he set foot upon the Southeast Asian shoreline, a strange and dark metamorphosis began to take shape within him, leaving those who loved him the most wondering if he would ever make it back from the self induced hell he eventually became a part of, or would he fall into the abyss, never to return.
About the Author
Gerry Lundy was born in Key West, Florida, and now resides in Nashville Tennessee. He spent a number of years in the United States Navy, and was cross-trained as a Hospital Corpsman. After he got out of the Navy, and because his parents sat him down behind a piano at the tender age of five years old, he worked as a professional musician, playing with a number of nationally, as well as internationally known recording artists. He retired from the music industry a few years ago to seriously commit to writing. This is his second book, and to hear him tell it, his best thus far.
