About the Author
At the age of 17, Veda Pickett Neal began to work with children. At a very young age her heart was always engaged in making sure that children from all races and different background were taken care of and loved. Veda is a graduate of Cambridge Business College, but business is not where her heart was, so she has continued to work with children as a children's minister at Word Of Faith International Christian Center, and from there, Faith Christian Academy, as a preschool teacher's assistant, She also attended Layman's Bible School at Word Of Faith . As she moved forward, she continued her education at Grand Rapids Community College in Youth Services, and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and started working with at-risk youth where she started a program called Copeland's Gym. Copeland's Gym was not only for kids who could not box but to also reached out to the streets and into schools to help young people better themselves. In 1999, she returned back to her hometown Detroit, Michigan. Things there had changed so much that she had to learn something new. There, she also saw that the children needed so much help and hope for their futures. She also learned how children were beginning to vanish almost into thin air with the advent of the Internet. That children were being kidnapped, murdered, and exploited, all because of the child pornography ever present on the Internet. Something had to be done. Veda has taken action by calling of various State Representatives and Senators to see what can be done and to learn about the laws protecting our children in Michigan. Some doors were close, but Veda Kept fighting until she met Senator Thomas, who also has the goal of protecting children on the Internet.
