About the Author
About the Author Chester W. “Chet” Allen, CCIM, is a graduate of Stanford University with a degree in Economics. A licensed real estate broker since 1965, Mr. Allen has successfully brokered over $110 million in closings, including some of the most complex transactions in history. One exchange transaction, involving 35 principals and 12 lenders, concurrently closed escrow on 64 properties, located in three time zones, stretching from coast to coast. He is the only broker to receive both of the nation’s two most prestigious commercial real estate awards; the Campbell Trophy for the Best Commercial-Investment Transaction in the United States, and the Snyder Trophy for the Best Exchange in the United States. The California Association of Realtors has honored him four times for brokering California’s Most Outstanding Investment Transactions. The author holds the designation, Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), commercial real estate’s highest, is past president of the National Society of Exchange Counselors, and has been inducted in the Exchangor’s Hall of Fame. As a developer, building designer and licensed general contractor, Mr. Allen has designed, built and marketed housing subdivisions, apartment complexes, condominiums, office and industrial buildings. He has written extensively for Creative Real Estate, a magazine for real estate professionals, and has received their Best Creator of Wealth Award. Mr. Allen has created and conducted heavily attended seminars throughout the United States (approved for Realtor’s continuing education by state agencies) on the topics of Analyzing Investment Properties, Developing and Syndication, Client Estate Building, The Secrets of Successful Exchanging, and Beyond 1031, Market Driven Exchanging. On three occasions he has been guest lecturer at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Engineering.
