"Charles, can you come in here for a minute?" I asked over the intercom.
"Sure, no problem. I'll be right there, Allie," he replied.
Charles Roberts was about six foot four with brown hair and brown eyes that seemed to be always know so much more than you. He was always thinking of ways to make more money or some investment. He was not a heavy man, just a little weight added over the years, but still built. For some reason, he never married Helen. I still wonder why it went bad for them years ago. I think that since he worked so hard, that she felt neglected and found someone who would be there all the time. It is hard starting a business and working every minute and hour of the day. She should have waited and been patient.
"What do you have, Allie?" as he strode into the office and sat down in the chair next to the desk.
Allie held up the safe deposit key. "This was in this envelope with this number, 683; nothing else that would indicate what bank or location of a bank. The only other papers are old licenses, a few cashier check receipts, and miscellaneous notes."
"Let me see the cashier check receipts. These were from last year. This one is from May, this one for June and this one the day before the accident in July, July 6 to be exact. Hold on a minute." Charles said as he pulled a paper that was stuck to one of the receipts. This is a wire transfer, not a cashier's receipt. Look at the amount. Nine hundred thousand eight hundred dollars paid to Explicit Title Company in Rockville, Maryland on May 5, 2004. What did Calvin buy for that amount of money?" He reached over to the phone and buzzed Gretchen. "Gretchen, would you get me Explicit Title Company in Rockville on the phone. I'm in Calvin's office with Allie. Thanks."
"What do you think they will tell you? I don't know because this does not have Calvin's name on it and what name was on here has been blacked out. It may take a court order to find out about this transfer. In the mean time, we have to find out what bank that key belongs to and that might be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Better call your lawyer as this might be a big can of worms!"

About the Author
Ms. Jackson began reading at the age of three. There is nothing better in the world than books. Many times, she has explained to young people that anything and everything you want to know is in a book. This story had been in her head for six years and one day she began to type for six weeks. It is by knowing her that one day she would write a novel. She is a native of Washington, DC, the nation's capital, where she attended public school and college. Ms. Jackson is now a resident of Maryland working on her second and possible third book.
