Running Through Life tells my story: a mother who lived the American dream. In my quest to successfully raise my children, I have turned to my past, a past that until recently I was ashamed of. I grew up homeless, raised alone by my father, after escaping Vietnam and my abusive mother. We settled in Northern California, living first in an abandoned packing crate and then in a lean-to. My father sacrificed his career and his identity to devote these years to my development. We lived in poverty, but I had constant love and attention. I borrowed and worked my way through an Ivy League education and an MBA Now I have my own children. I achieved everything I ever hoped. Now I struggle with my upbringing more than any other time in my life. I recently gave up my dream career to also devote this time in my life to my children. I am scared to death of translating my drive and motivation into something so intangible. Running Through Life tells two parallel stories – one past and one present; the past is folded into the present day, with themes joining the two together. The drama of each story concludes simultaneously.

About the Author
Yolanda Strock Taylor was raised alone by her father in Northern California, living in poverty. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School of Business, and received an MBA from Duke University. Yolanda recently retired from money management, and lives with her husband and four children in Massachusetts.
