About the Author
After graduating from the University of Toronto, Ken spent a number of years with Imperial Oil Limited, Exxon Corporation and Esso Inter-America (EIA) where he was an executive with responsibilities in strategic planning, HR, marketing, public and government relations. For three years he managed Servacar Ltd., a subsidiary company of Imperial. Latterly he held the positions nationally for Imperial Oil of Public Relations Manager, Merchandising Manager, Government Relations Manager and Planning Manager. He has national and international experience, having worked in the worldwide offices of Exxon Corporation out of New York City and as EIA Retail Manager for the Caribbean, South and Central America. For nearly two years he participated in an Executive Interchange program with the federal government in Ottawa. Subsequent to Imperial Oil, Ken was a senior consulting associate in the management consulting practice of Coopers & Lybrand Consulting. Most of his work was in the United States, concentrating on strategic planning and marketing. He then carried out a consulting assignment in Malaysia under the auspices of CESO (Canadian Executive Services Organization). For the next three years Ken was the Associate Director of the Canadian Outward Bound Wilderness School, where between taking trips out into the wilderness, he directed the strategic planning, finance, marketing, fund raising and facility functions. For the next eleven years Ken taught part time at Seneca College. He also continued to carry out private consulting contracts in the strategic planning and marketing areas. He served as a Vice Chair and a member of the Board of Governors of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Over the years he has been and is involved in many other organizations in a board or committee capacity. Ken is an experienced canoeist, hiker, skier and scuba diver. One of his passions is photography, both on land and under water.
