What I Learned By Not Killing People

Josh was no different from a lot of contracts that came my way. Like any other man in his thirties he was prone to making the same mistake over and over again. Chasing the wrong woman. He worked for the prestigious Bresner Deinkorn recruitment firm in San Francisco. By day, Josh could juggle up to three phones whilst eating lunch, sealing deals for top executives who all wished to jump ship to a better offer. This suited him just fine, because the better the offer, the better the pay day. Just like you might have gone through two chocolate bars, he would have made himself around ten thousand dollars before lunch. By night however, Josh was as lonely as they came. He had enough money to buy any woman he wanted, but he had that all too common ability to lock eyes with the ones that were trouble. Her name was Katrina Jung, a Swedish born girl with a taste for the finer things in life. Josh became obsessed the second he laid eyes on her across the busy gym. The beautiful blonde hair that was slightly matted to her forehead by a moist film of sweat, those slender legs that glowed like a quiet camp fire and the big green eyes that could read your mind even if it was obvious what you were thinking. After another day of knocking everybody on their asses, Josh would settle back into his beautifully crafted office chair and begin the slow routine of shutting down his computer. Then he’d head on over to the mini bar and grab a cold Budweiser, loosening his tie and settling back into the reclining chair where he’d close his eyes and imagine taking Katrina to the opera, or a log cabin in Canada, where they would walk through the woods collecting firewood, and drink red wine in front of some old movies. The one thing that was standing in Josh’s way was the well known ‘businessman’ Harvey Johnson, the man who shared a bed with Katarina every night.
