About the Book
Poetic Inspiration can come from many sources--pastoral settings, a beautiful sunset, an autumn forest, or waves breaking upon a tropical beach. Such are the obvious sources. For Jesse Preston, however, his inspiration was a gift from God found behind prison walls.
About the Author
Mine is a life of twists, turns--dead-ends and new beginnings. Presently I am a member of The City Mission and live in Cleveland, OH. My body of work, my poetry was a product of life experiences some of which led to my imprisonment for over 38 years over the span of my 62 years. While prison alone does not qualify one to write poetry, my time as an isolated man honed my skills and afforded me a perspective that most Americans cannot appreciate.
In my times of lonlieness I turned to God and asked to be shown an outlet for my pent up emotions and desire for solace. His answer and His blessing was the gift of poetry; the gift of reflecting on my life and expressing my emotions of love and pain and fear in ways that took me beyond my bars.
