“No.” Victory spoke the single word with such powerful conviction that it made Captain U-ra’gus start in surprise. He quickly contained his surprise. He cut loose with a loud warrior’s roar as he cut the communication, returning to the view of the three warships hanging in space. “Our plasma repeaters are locked on their engines and awaiting your order, sir.” Pinta reported with her hands floating an inch over her board as she waited to fire the first shot. “Hold your fire.” He barked. “Full power to our front shields.” But before he could receive a confirmation regarding the status of the shields, the ship was struck by an energy blast. The deck tilted somewhat and the lights dimmed slightly before quickly returning to normal. “Shields are holding at ninety nine percent. No damage.” Luther reported. “Well, let’s return the favor. Open fire with our plasma repeaters.” Pinta smiled as she made the adjustment to her console and released the repetitive action of the energy pulse. The thrum could be felt throughout the ship as red balls of plasma energy sped away from them, striking the lead ship. The shields of the N’pus flared in response to the discharges, which seemed to bleed away harmlessly. The gunners face drooped. “No damage…” She was a bout to say “Sir”, but the deck suddenly fell out from under their feet and the lights totally winked out, leaving only the illumination of the controls and monitors, which cast a ghostly shadow on the crew’s faces.

In the year 2175, a few years after a devastating world war, Earth is running low on resources because of the war. To prevent humanity from falling into another stone age the Earth’s Space Program is working to locate the necessary resources by building spacecrafts with the capability of traveling at great speeds to go out into the void. But before the human race is able to leave their own solar system they receive a transmission from a distant galaxy forewarning them of a threat from a sadistic race of beings identify as the Herzot. The Herzot have the intention of invading the sector of space designated as the Kartan system to gain access to the location of a Galactic Wormhole, which would allow anyone with a spacecraft to travel great distances in a fraction of the time.
Captain Gregory L. Victory, a first lieutenant test pilot for the Earth Space Program is promoted to captain after a devastating disaster during one of his test flights. Upon which time he was chosen to lead a mission to the Kartan system, in an untested craft, to meet with First Councilman Shal-Bar of the Council of Interstellar Affairs to assist in peace talks with the Herzot. Unfortunately the people of the Kartan system, having relied on their technology for three hundred years had become technologically stagnate, not knowing how to protect themselves or those worlds under their protection.
The humans must do whatever they can to prevent the vicious race of beings from carrying out their diabolical plans and save billions of innocent lives.
About the Author
Danny Marable was born on a windy day in March of the year 1957. Dan had been the youngest of three boys, which his mother and father had raised in Northwest Louisiana. As a child he would take all of his mechanical toys apart to see how they worked. Then he would reassemble the parts into something new and different. In school he was considered an average learner, but excelled in the field of science. Unfortunately he did not have the opportunity to go to collage, due to the high cost of higher learning, so he went straight to work after graduation and worked until he had to retire earlier than expected because of a bad back. But this did not stop his eagerness for knowledge. A few years back he had invested into a computer and got onto the Internet, which he continued studying to about modern technology and its slow and methodical progression into the future. Throughout the years Dan had been reading science fiction by such authors as Piers Anthony, Peter David and Michael Jan Friedman, to name a few. In fact science fiction had become an addiction to him. And with this fantastic zeal for science fiction a thought began to form. He wanted to write a book. Something that people can read and become a part in a world that may not be perfect, but one that humanity can achieve if they just put their differences aside and move forward. It took about nine years before everything came together and was finally ready for publication. And now he has turned the page to another chapter of his life, and he will embrace this new life with the same zeal as he had always put forth.
