At her first meeting, several weeks ago, Tori thought the club’s name came from the bowl of popcorn Miss B always had waiting on the table. But Miss B explained the real meaning of the name of the club. She said that the people in the world are like little yellow kernels in a big blue bowl. When a person gets a good idea it is like a kernel popping into a fluffy white piece of popcorn. Poppers are the people who discover medicines, build machines, or find ways to make the world a better place. Then she told them that the more a person learned, the better chance they had of popping out a good idea. She called the members of the club Poppers, because they were always learning new things. She said that she wanted the Poppers to make the world a better place with their ideas when they grew up. And that was the Popcorn Club motto, “Make the world a better place.”
