About the Book

"Scaffolding is a great support from which to build and remodel and fine tune but the trick is remembering that it's not the real thing; the mistake most people make with role models is forgetting that they are at best superficial caricatures of a much more complex reality" -- Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick This collection of poetry focuses on dismantling identity and ideology. It is divided into four discussions: the theories on which society bases their beliefs, the personal perspective of our own identity, the interactions with various institutions that help shape these theories and perspectives and lastly, our direct interactions with others that contribute to shaping these ideals. Each poem is meant to break through the boundaries of what we accept as normal, creatively and mentally, leaving the reader free to contemplate or physically create and recreate (and recreate) oneself.

About the Author

Sabrina Wright has been writing since the age of 12. Seemingly appropriate from her namesake, she has been steadily building an enduring career in all facets of writing. Her daily homage to writing is as a contract technical writer which has provided her the opportunity to continue to pursue creative endeavours without compromising creativity. Though born October 20th in the city of Toronto, Ontario, she grew up in Mississauga and moved to Toronto only in 2003. This wholly exposed her to a city that provided a space identified as home and it proves to be a wealth of inspiration. Her resume includes: Winner of Mississauga Library's Adult Poetry Contest (Sponsored by Starbucks) at the age of 18 as well as the Toronto Public Library System's Young Voices Poetry Contest. She was featured in the Mississauga News for her efforts as well as both anthologies published by the libraries. She has published works in three editions of Toronto's Mic Check Magazine - a small urban publication and performed at a few venues throughout the city. However, her main project has been a collection of poetry, carefully crafted over several years of editing, additions and revamping, released October 2010. A modest collection of work bearing 53 poems, it aims to unravel the idea of self and image. It discusses creating clean slates and embracing the idea that definition does not define you. Currently, she is dedicating her time to launching her career as a creative writer with various contract projects, a second book of poetry and a collection of children's fairytales.
