She set the oven to warm the Danish and headed to the bathroom to wash up. As she rounded the corner into the hall she stopped cold and let out a bloodcurdling scream. There was a man laying face down in the hallway, blood was pooling around his head and upper body. She dropped to her knees to see if the man was alive, although she suspected he wasn’t breathing. Immediately upon lifting the man’s shoulder to check his pulse, she felt her heart literally skip a beat, it was Rick. His eyes were still open, it was clear he was dead.
