I looked down at her with concealed hatred. “I will … but only on one condition.” “Condition?” she rebutted. “The only condition will be mine.” “Everything comes with a condition,” I replied. “Even Allah has conditions on the air you breathe. If He’s displeased with you, He can prevent your breath.” Reluctantly, she snapped, “What is your condition?” “I’ll take you to the mirror chamber, but no one will suffer in it. If you want others to believe that someone did, that’s up to you. I’ll take your guard, hide him, and let him leave the country so no one will be the wiser. All will think you got your way … isn’t that what you want?” “And what if I disagree with your terms?” she asked indignantly. “I can have you killed for not helping me.” “Yes, you could try that approach,” I responded as I glanced at her guard. Then, as I moved slowly between her and him, I smiled and lowered my head closer to hers. “But that would displease me.” Instantly, my hand went to her throat, and my eyes narrowed as I growled softly, “And, like Allah, if I’m displeased, I can take away your breath.”

Theodora Bruns has spent the last seven years writing Through Phantom Eyes: Volume III. In 2007, she released the first volume, A Child’s Guidance, and in 2008, she published Forsaken, the second in this series of seven. She is the mother of five daughters.
