A Penny For Your Thoughts Inhale my soul, exhale no more Why breath Life into a paralyzed core Poisonous thoughts carelessly invade my veins Rendering me helpless, now I remain maimed Awaken everyday only to once again sleep Smiling redundantly only to once again weep Open the door and enter into the realm of endless pain No standard of normalcy is achieved here for we are all insane Motionlessly we lie, staggeringly we stand Help is usually given with a tightly closed hand In a steel barred cage we are trapped, no way to break out In silence we congregate, no distrust, no doubt For we are all prisoners, captured, never to find We're all incarcerated in our own self-destructive minds

About the Book
Facets of life. Throughout life we are faced with many situations. Some break us down to the point where we cannot fall to our knees because they have already been swept from underneath us. Others touch us so deeply, move us so sincerely, we are humbled by our own tears of joy. Emotions. Strong and fierce they almost seem to control themselves. Poetry. Strong and fierce it almost seems to speak aloud. Words. The language of the soul is how I see poetry. Letting my emotions run freely. No boundaries in poetry. No right, no wrong. Just poetry. Like emotions. Like Life. This is not a book of poems, this is a book of poetry. Of emotions. Of Life.
About the Author
As a "Navy brat", I was always the new girl in town. Poetry was a way to identify and fit in for me at the beginning. As I became more educated and experienced more in life, my poetry became a way for me to express emotions that may not always be easy to face. My fervent hope was that I would be able to communicate this so well that I would help others cope and define these feelings they may share with me. Between my parent's traveling and my own as an adult, I began to realize just how much I am like every person I meet on my path. This led me to believe that it is now my duty to publish this compilation of poems to help everyone realize that no matter what you are feeling or experiencing, you are not alone. I currently call my home Phoenix, AZ and have been a resident for a little over five years. I will be wed in May to my significant other of three years and we have two dogs and two cats.
