The author have had extensive experience relating to hearing loss and and have interviewed many people for their opionion. In this heartbreaking story she relates her own experience with hearing loss. and her struggles to survive in a world geared for a hearing society. She tells of the pain and heartbreak she endured when her family kept her out of school. But life was not all gloom, she developed a passion for books which gave her an education way beyond anything her parents had ever expected. In her teens she discovered a talent for sewing and became a successful dress designer, teacher and dressmaker. This is the heartfelt story of one undaunted woman triumphs over the many and monumental obstacles that stood in her way It is also an inspiring testimony to the durability of every human being who have overcome their disability. Because so little is known about hearing loss ,and the fact that there are more than thirty milliond Americans living in silence, the author hope her experience will help others to understand deafness better, and give it more serious attention.

Elometer returns from the hospital only to discover that she can no longer hear the voices of her friends and family. In fact, she can’t hear anything at all.
It’s hard enough for a young girl to deal with such a loss, but things get even worse when her stern family takes her out of school and hides her from the outside world. The playmates she manages to keep wildly gesture and even throw things to get her attention, alienating her even further.
Eventually, Elometer stops fantasizing about one day having her hearing return, and she takes steps to thrive in a world that misunderstands her and treats her differently. But her spirit and determination enable her to succeed.

About the Author
Elometer Victoria Thomas, a native of Jamaica, immigrated to the United States in 1978. She is a certified dress designer and seamstress, and she’s interacted with people from throughout the world. Her experiences have given her the courage to write about coping with hearing loss. She lives in New Jersey.
