It is necessary to copy a portion of the Huffmaster Family Records from the book of James T. Huffmaster, 1922. My hope is that some of the mysteries of the family will enlighten the coming generations so these records can be carried forward as the professioanl uncover further records, particularly in Germany. Please note that Gottfried Hoffmeister had a brother, Franz who also immigrated to America. Their parents are unknown. There have been claims that our ancestors to the age of Charlemagne. I have been unable to find the link of Hoffmeister and Charlemagne. I did find a reference to a Homiest (meaning familiarity with, when Hofmeister was introduced as a search link. Some very interesting fact were found and translated into the English language from the French, Latin and German Dialects. Specifically the deeds of Charlemagne caused many Franks to leave Germany. You will reference to this site within the book, PRELIMINARY I. There are many Huffmaster families widely scattered in the mix of today's civilization. In America, it started in 1776 when Gottlieb Hofmeister immigrated and settled in Tennessee.

About the Book
Within these pages is history of some of the original immigrant, his family and his brothers family as well as marriage and death records. Even though the records are still incomplete, I have included many anecdotes , obituaries and photos of interest. Many Huffmaster families that were connected to the original immigrant from Germany are included. It is hoped that all who read will have enjoyment and will piece together much of their families history.
About the Author
I was born April 27, 1928 in Elm Springs, Arkansas. My mother told me of manystories about things that had happened prior to the time I existed. There was a beautiful portriat of her grandmother on a bedroom wall. She was beautiful. These stories and my great-grandmother's portriat sparked my curiosity. I would sit and listen to her for hours. My father, a farmer, was always out in the fields, plowing, seeding or gathering grain. He and his father, my grandfather told their share of stories as well. I remembered vividly the story he told about the "old man" who was the first of our clan to come over from Germany. That man's stories must have carried down and possibly grew over the generations. My grandfather was the fifth generation on America's soil. The way grandfather told the stories of Gottlieb Hoffmeister were almost fairy tale like, but most were very true as you will see in my book. During all my time of growing up, I listened to conversations between parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. The more I heard, the more I wanted to write the story. It was an early age that I started being more and more curious about my ancestors and over the years, especially when I was raising my children, I asked questions, recording those answers and set the goal for "someday to write the book" about my farther's family. I have attained my goal and feel I have done a satisfactory job in gathering, writing and having published "The Hoffmeister/Huffmaster Family Records.
