About the Book

About the Author

Thirty years ago, Kathy studied poetry with Richard Hugo and Tess Gallagher at the University of Montana. She has been writing poetry ever since, her poems having appeared in many anthologies, including two journals in England. One of her poems won Honorable Mention in a national Writers’ Digest contest. Kathy’s first book, Mad Dance of Bees, (2003), is a collection of illustrated poems in the Northwest narrative style. Kathy enjoys playing with words, molding them into a viable entity. Rhythm is important, as well as imagery. She doesn’t rush through life; she goes slowly, noticing little details and minor events. Traveling to Rock and Gem shows with her partner, Kathy works as a gem dealer and shop keeper based in Philipsburg, Montana. They live there with their three cats. Kathy is a classically trained pianist.
